Schoolhouse Restaurant and Hotel is in the quiet hamlet of Hook, just a short drive between Swindon and Royal Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire. It offers comfortable and well-appointed accommodation in a beautiful part of Wiltshire, providing a unique place to stay and eat.
The hotel was built in 1859 and was used as a Victorian school until 1965. It has been beautifully refurbished throughout, whilst retaining all historic features in the public areas. When lodging with us do have a Schoolhouse breakfast or a la carte dinner.
Our weekend breaks include room, breakfast and dinner and are popular for those who enjoy fine food in quiet surroundings. Breakfast and dinner are served in our large and spacious Dining Hall. Restaurant reservations are limited to residents and a few bookings from outside to ensure peaceful dinner. Enjoy the Victorian features and perhaps “hear” the voices of the children who were taught here a century ago.
If you need to study, wish to “retreat” or are on a sabbatical and prefer solitude than we offer full room service between 08.00 hrs and 21.00 hrs as well as a shopping service for essentials, Wi-Fi, flat screen TV, full size desk and laundry service.
All guest rooms are decorated with period furniture, some more contemporary, ensuring an enjoyable stay. The rooms have unencumbered views over the countryside and include all modern facilities you need for a comfortable break away. Room amenities include:

Breakfast is included in the room rate and is a hearty way to start the day. We buy the best available food locally and from national suppliers. Please do advise when booking if you have any special dietary requirements as we can provide for most diets if advised in advance.
Our hotel & restaurant are on the main route to the West Country and Wales, making us an ideal stop off for tourists and business travellers. A short 5 minute drive and you can reach Junction 16 of the M4, which is a great way to access the many attractions in the area.
