Donnington Grove is a stunning country hotel in a beautiful part of Berkshire. The hotel is nestled in 500 acres of truly breathtaking countryside, just a short drive from Newbury at Donnington. From the hotel you can enjoy unrivalled views of Donnington Castle, the River Lambourn and all the wildlife that calls the hotel grounds home.
The hotel has a long and exciting history and has had former guests such as style icon Beau Brummel and the famous fun-loving femme fatale Daisy Fellowes. Although recently refurbished, it is still home to many hand painted ornaments and antique furniture, combining the best of both old and new, giving it a stylish finish with a historic feel. Throughout the main house, guests will still find a wealth of beautiful and original features including hand painted wallpapers, decadent furniture and centuries old artwork and tapestries that will provoke any curious mind. New for 2019 – Beau’s Bar and Restaurant. The famous Beau Brummel, son of William Brummel, lived here at Donnington Grove in the late 18th century. Beau was famously known as a Dandy and a fashion icon of his time, he introduced the style for gentlemen to wear a shirt and cravat – with a jacket! Raise a glass at Beaus to Great British style, fashion and tradition as we create and serve our new menus with this provenance in mind. The generous patio area is perfect for al-fresco dining or afternoon tea on a delightful, British summer day. For those not wishing the formality of dinner with several courses, there is the option of the bar that has an extensive menu of light meals and snacks guaranteed to keep hunger pangs at bay. Non residents are welcome. Reservations for the Beau's Restaurant are preferred but not essential.

Avalon Treatment Rooms - We have new beauty and treatment rooms at the hotel, so if you are looking for an extra special treat, this provides you with a way to rest and relax the mind, body and soul. Our Avalon treatment rooms are a sanctuary from the outside world. We have a varied list of beauty essentials along with a range of unique packages, advanced skincare and therapeutic body treatments available.
Fishing - One of the Donnington Grove Estate’s hidden treasures is that the truly beautiful River Lambourn runs through it. This absolutely delightful chalk stream is perfect for a laid back fly fishing break in Berkshire: not too wide, bright gravel bottom and gin clear water. To put it simply, this is the perfect territory for stalking the wild brown trout in picturesque surroundings. Fishing is available on the river for a length of approximately half a mile. It responds well to both traditional dry and wet fly tactics throughout the season. A good head of wild browns are supplemented with carefully stocked, locally reared fish to provide a first class sport when you go fly fishing in Berkshire.
Clay Pigeon Shooting – This is an increasingly popular sport and is accessible to all, even if you have not held a rifle before. Here at Donnington Grove, we have our own shooting facility, allowing us to offer clay pigeon shooting all year round to complete your holiday in Berkshire.
Golf – If you are looking for the ultimate golf experience, we are a fantastic place to stay. We have one of the UK’s most relaxing and scenic golf courses with a range of memberships available. This is an 18 hole championship course with a flood lit driving range and fully stocked professional shop.
Our hotel is placed in a great location for access to the M4 and M5 motorways. When you stay at the hotel, you’ll only be a short drive away from Highclere Castle (ITV’s Downton Abbey), Newbury Race Course and the Kennet and Avon canal. Donnington Grove is also home to one of Berkshire’s most renowned championship golf courses, hosting numerous Pro and televised golf events.
