The Red House Hotel was built just before the turn of the century and started life as a private house, owned by the Hare family of the Honeylands hospital.
Two sisters later moved into the Red House, one of whom was the organist at the local church. The ladies were obviously very well respected since they were always collected and taken to church by horse-drawn carriage and the service was not started until they had arrived.
The house was then converted into a guesthouse for commercial travellers before being taken over by the Sawyers family, who created a restaurant and bar. Over the years several large extensions were made to the building and the hotel changed hands a couple of times.
On 22nd April 2002, John Kennard and Angela Gillard became the proud new owners of the hotel. John and Angela are continuing the long tradition of a family-run business.
Today, all of the staff pride themselves on offering superb accommodation, food, beverages and entertainment in a very warm and welcoming environment.
The hotel has 12 en-suite rooms in total, consisting of 4 doubles, 3 singles, 2 twins and 3 family rooms.
All rooms have a colour TV, direct-dial telephone and private tea-making facilities.
The family rooms sleep between 3 and 5 people.

The bar at the Red House is open to residents and non-residents. A late night bar is available for functions.
We are a free house stocking a wide range of beers, wines and spirits to cater for every taste. For those in an adventurous mood, we also offer a fantastic selection of cocktails.
Smoking is allowed at the bar, though we also have a designated non-smoking area.
Rates : From £48 per person per night. From £62 per room per night based on 2 people sharing. From £75 per family room per night.
No smoking rooms only.
