Temple View Hotel, Carinish, Isle of North Uist, Western Isles

Temple View Hotel is located just outside of Carinish on the Isle of North Uist in the Western Isles of Scotland we are praised for the food, service and comfort that is provided to guests.

At the hotel we have ten spacious well appointed letting bedrooms each with bath and shower en suite facilities.

There are four single and six double/twin rooms including one with disabled facilities.

All rooms at the hotel have tea and coffee making facilities, direct dial telephone, hairdryer and colour television.

There is a choice of dinner in the dining room or a meal in the informal lounge diner. We specialise in local produce whenever possible.

Both menus represent excellent value and are complemented by a carefully chosen wine list. The sun lounge provides an ideal retreat after dinner where you can enjoy the sunset over the sea lochs and the Temple.

The rooms to the front of the hotel have extensive views of small islands towards the large tidal island of Baleshare and the 13th Century ruin of Trinity Temple, from which the Hotel gets its name. The rooms to the rear have views of moorland and distant hills towards the east of the island.

During the summer months ceilidhs, concerts and dances are held in village halls and bars. These at times can be lively affairs. However, we have a restricted licence which offers the discerning clientele the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere.

Temple View Hotel is conveniently located at the Southern end of North Uist, approximately 15 minutes drive from Benbecula Airport and a similar distance from Lochmaddy, with frequent car ferry services to and from Skye.

It is an ideal centre for touring North and South Uist, Benbecula and Berneray. Day trips can easily be undertaken by car/passenger ferry to Lewis, Harris and Barra.

The islands are also steeped in history and there are many significant archaeological remains such as the Neolithic burial chamber at Langass, stone circles and standing stones.

In co-operation with North Uist Estate, fishing permits for brown trout can be arranged. Windsurfing, cycling and hill walking are also among the possibilities.
