Black Bull Hotel, Killearn, Stirling

Nestling quietly in the picture postcard village of Killearn, the Black Bull is a little gem - a small, intimate family run Scottish inn style hotel of considerable character and charm, big on hospitality, great food and quality service. A very relaxed warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere will strike you as soon as you enter its modern, softly stylish interior.

Within easy reach of Glasgow and Edinburgh, Killearn is an idyllic base for touring the whole central belt of Scotland, and ‘recently born’ Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Where could be better for rewarding weekend breaks in Scotland, and of course superb romantic breaks within easy reach of the ‘bonnie banks’? Romantic and world famous Loch Lomond has some of the most magnificent and diverse countryside in Scotland with lochs and rivers, moors and mountains, beautiful forests and landscapes.

When staying away, you want a bedroom in which you can escape and relax, be spoilt in comfort, and yet sleep as soundly as when at home. You'll find all the services you expect in your en-suite room. satellite television, comfortable beds, fluffy towels, gleaming taps, crisp linen, fascinating novels, warm lighting and breakfast in bed and many other thoughtful touches to help make your stay an enjoyable one.
Room one is a typical double bedroom, with a lovely view over the garden. It's attractively dressed in a dash of warm tartan, which doesn't take away from the cool, sleek mood of the modern design. There is a very swish cream/ brown suede and leather headboard and the overall colour scheme is in soft neutral tones, with pale pine wardrobe and neat desks/ dressing table. The new marble bathroom is compact but practical with bath, power-shower, hot towel rail and excellent fine soap and toiletries by Gilchrist and Soames Spa Therapy.

A great deal of thought has gone into homely touches in the bedrooms such as a litre bottle of mineral water rather than the usual one tiny bottle to share between two people. Also homemade shortbread wrapped in cellophane. And on the bed is a soft cuddly toy dog. And during your stay you may come across a couple of real live dogs around the hotel, namely Archie, a gorgeous black Scottie and his younger companion, Penny, a white terrier puppy.

Our award winning conservatory restaurant offers the best of Scottish and International cuisine, where only the freshest of produce is used. Dining at The Black Bull Hotel is a civilised adult affair - low lighting, crisp linen, stylish surroundings and delicious food. The restaurant is complemented by a carefully selected fine wine list. After dinner, relax in the cocktail bar in front of the roaring log fire where you can sample the finest selection of malt whiskies.

The Black Bull bar is a fun and friendly place, popular with the locals as well as passing visitors and hotel guests. A snooker table, large screen TV for football matches and a roaring fire in winter draws a mixed crowd. Resident guests also have a private lounge bar beside the Conservatory restaurant featuring a lovely real coal fire, leather sofas and armchairs. Afternoon tea - scones and jam, sandwiches and cakes -is served here. The garden has tables and benches for summer time drinks.
