MacDonald Hotel, Kinlochleven, Kinross

The MacDonald Hotel is situated at the foot of the Mamore Mountains, at the head of Loch Leven, providing a stunningly beautiful setting, which was selected to open the latest Rob Roy movie. Loch Leven and the River Leven form the glen between its more famous neighbours Glen Coe and Ben Nevis. The MacDonald Hotel is on the northwestern edge of the village of Kinlochleven, where the West Highland Way begins its climb towards Fort William.

The hotel is a great base no matter what your budget. It has 10 en-suite bedrooms, 9 all-season 4-bunk cabins, and a campsite for up to 11 two-man tents; and has a bar with Sky Sports competing with the view down the loch, a restaurant and a lounge bar. All guests have access to the drying room, laundry room and potwash.

The main activity around Kinlochleven is the West Highland Way, Scotland's most famous long distance walking path, which extends from Glasgow to Fort William. However, there are a number of other activities in and around Kinlochleven which are easily accessible from the hotel.

Other Activities Include:

Climbing:
There are ten Munros in the Mamore Mountains which rise from Kinlochleven. Beyond these are innumerable challenges for all types of climbers.

The Ice Factor - The world's largest indoor ice climbing site is just along the road from the MacDonald Hotel.

Walking:
There are numerous well formed paths into the hills behind Kinlochleven, not least the West Highland Way. Another path passes the old aluminium factory's tailrace up to the Black Water Dam, an hour's trek from the MacDonald Hotel, in Kinlochleven.

We also have nine cosy cabins for guests to stay in - please see our website for more information.
