Sea Marge Hotel, Overstrand, Norfolk

Seaside Edwardian elegance awaits you at the Sea Marge with its commanding cliff-top views. This historic house offers a fascinating variety of comfortable rooms with excellent food and wines.

Built to take best advantage of its commanding seaside position, this fascinating Grade II listed house has been lovingly restored to create a luxurious family hotel. Original features are combined with every modern comfort and impeccable service to make sure you enjoy your seaside stay in what Country Living's coast magazine listed as one of the top ten coastal hotels in the country.

Each of the 25 en-suite rooms has its own style: many have sweeping sea views. Our new deluxe wing provides larger suites for the ultimate in luxury. Some regular guests return to the same room; others enjoy trying a new room each time they visit.

Five acres of well-tended gardens give you room to relax. Terraced lawns run down to the coastal path and open beach. You’ll find quiet suntraps for a lazy afternoon or a shady loggia for a pre-dinner drink.

Choosing your room is one of the pleasures of staying at a hotel which prides itself on avoiding the pre-packaged conformity of larger establishments. The choice of styles, views, shapes and features is fascinating. You are welcome to telephone to discuss which might suit your stay.

All bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms have been recently refurbished to keep up with the demands of our guests. All have colour television, tea and coffee facilities and direct dial telephone.

Standard Rooms : Standard is hardly an adequate description of the lovely rooms overlooking the gardens or the village. Each room has a charm of its own, many with period features from the original house. All have modern bathrooms, television, tea and coffee facilities and telephone.

Superior Rooms : The Superior rooms at the Sea Marge make the most of the hotel's position with sweeping views of the gardens and the sea beyond. Each room is comfortably furnished and has a modern bathroom en-suite. Television, tea and coffee facilities and telephone are in every room.

Deluxe Rooms : Deluxe rooms have feature beds and comfortable seating areas so that you can relax and enjoy the panoramic sea views. You can choose from a spa bath or an Edwardian freestanding style.

Luxury Suites : Converting an additional wing has created three additional suites to join our popular Lookout Suite and an extra deluxe room. All suites have bedroom, bathroom and sitting room with an additional sofa bed for extra accommodation.

The Clement Scott bar is the hub of the Sea Marge, sitting under a vaulted timber roof with the stunning minstrels’ gallery running along two sides. Close to the bar is the Clementine Lounge with a ready supply of games. In fine weather the bar spills out on to the terrace overlooking the sea or the loggia facing the rose garden, giving you a choice of sun or shade.

You can dine with a sea view in Frazer’s Restaurant or the Winston Room. In either you will be served the finest of food and wine. Our chefs vary their offerings with the season so that you can be sure of the freshest local produce prepared with skill and care. Whatever your mood or choice of dish, our selection of fine wines will ensure that you have the perfect match.

The Sea Marge has just been awarded an AA rosette for culinary excellence.

The Sea Marge is on the edge of the coastal village of Overstrand, for more than a hundred years a popular destination for those seeking a break from busy lives.

The Norfolk coast begins at the bottom of the garden, with its sweeping beaches, health giving walks and, not far away, the unique bird reserves. Inland, the peaceful countryside is home to pretty villages, well-marked footpaths and intriguing inns.

The small towns of Cromer and Sheringham nearby retain a comfortable seaside charm, while further afield the fine city of Norwich offers much of historical interest and fine shopping.
